Garden Design and Consultancy Services by Gardens Of Eden:

Gardens of Eden can help to create new planting schemes for both domestic and commercial clients though garden design and consultancy services. Whether you are looking to create an Edible Landscape, an Ecological Garden, a Food Forest or something more specific. Gardens of Eden can help, we can create planting plans, plant lists and elevations and design and create bespoke planting schemes tailored to the setting and needs of the client. Alternatively we can advise through consultancy. We use AutoCAD and professional garden design software and can create gardens with a hugely diverse range of themes and styles. Using a combination of Permaculture principles and conventional garden design theory, our creations will be planted and left alone and, like nature, be allowed to mature and form an ecosystem, with minimal maintenance.  We can source planting and do all the soft landscaping in house. Gardens are designed by professional garden designer Zac Harris BSc Horticulture (Garden and Landscape Design.)

Arid-Succulent Garden: Inspired by the mountainous regions of Lesotho. The Arid-Succulent garden combines hardy succulents with an arid, rocky landscape. The rocks create a warm and dry micro-climate, by storing heat and increasing water run off. Contains hardy, edible cactus; 'Opuntia humifusa.

Havana: The Sub-Urban Micro Farm: Market garden and Food Forest concept, scaled down appropriately for a domestic setting.

Specialising in Edible Landscapes and Ecological Garden Design - Gardens of Eden aims to use edible and ecological ecosystems to provide solutions to some of today's contemporary issues. Ecological Garden Design addresses growing concern for the decline in pollinators and native species. By designing and creating ecological gardens, we can provide mini havens for wildlife in our gardens and green spaces.
When we create Edible Landscapes, we can create ecological green spaces that also provide a nutritious, delicious, accessible food source for anyone who needs it.

No-Dig For Victory Garden: An Edible Landscape planted entirely with edible plants. The garden produces an abundance of sustainably produced, organic food as well as food and habits for wildlife. The garden also contains bug hotels and bird boxes.

Sub-Tropical Paradise Garden: Rainforest ecosystem observed and replicated in Fowey. Garden was created using the principle of Forest Gardening to create the aesthetic of an authentic wild rain forest. Inspired by amazonian landscapes. Naturalistic, tropical and wild.

Scientific approach to design and horticulture.

We create gardens using a combination of conventional garden design theory and Permaculture principles, basing our decisions on scientific literature as well as artistic design theory. By applying this combination of knowledge we aim to create aesthetic beautiful spaces with additional practical functions.

Woodland Wildlife Garden: Woodland themed ecological planting, combined with shade tolerant meadow mix, creating a harmonious merger between woodland and meadow habitats. The garden also contains bug hotels and native hedges.

Cut Flower-Herb Garden: Culinary herbs are combined with ecological cut flowers and grasses within prairie-like surroundings. An ecological garden with additional edible and practical functions. A favourite for bees and pollinators.

The Design Method:
Note: some gardens may only require a planting plan and would therefore skip stage 4. Method can be flexible to suit needs of the client.
Stage 1: Initial consultation
We look at the space and discuss wants needs and preferences, this discussion forms part of the brief.
Stage 2: Soil Analysis and Site Survey
Soil analysis will take place to establish PH and consistency of the soil as well as a measuring the area. Aspect will be noted as well as any micro-climates and existing vegetation.
Stage 3: Design Development
We discuss ideas and produce draft visualisations, and plant lists using Adobe software. This time is invoiced for hourly. Once clients are happy with the concept we proceed to a master plan.
Stage 4: Master Plan
A scale master plan will be provided using AutoCAD which sets out layout, main structural features, soft and hard landscaping. Time to create is charged hourly.
Stage 5: Planting plan(s)
Once a master plan has been approved work can begin on detailed planting plans.
Stage 6: Planting
This can be done by clients or other contractors or in-house.
