We create plant lists, elevations and planting plans to design planting appropriate for a variety of contexts and design planting schemes with a range of themes, styles and functions.

We see gardens and greenspaces as an opportunity to provide beauty, but to also provide environmental and societal functions. Planting design can have a role to play in helping to mitigate the climate crisis, land and ecological restoration, reducing wildlife decline and providing sustainable natural capital for people. We consider this carefully with all our planting designs and pride ourselves on our sensitively created ecosystems that our clients love!
From design to reality
Bumblebee Border designed and created in Newquay. This border was designed to benefit pollinators and is inspired by research by Garbuzov M et al in Functional Ecology, Tevi and the RHS. Native and exotic, trees, shrubs and herbaceous perennials have been selected from a pool of plants indicated in the above research to provide benefits to UK pollinators. Some of the best performing plants in different studies were selected and combined in large drifts to create a mass of flowers useful to pollinators. The scheme is particularly colourful and plants such as; Salvia patens 'Blue Angel' and Echinops ritro 'Veitch's Blue' provide dazzling colour to the ecological planting.

Planting Design Method Stage 1: Initial Consultation We look at the space and discuss wants, needs and preferences. Stage 2: Soil Analysis and Site Survey Soil analysis will take place to establish PH and consistency of the soil as well as a measuring the area. Aspect will be noted as well as any micro-climates and existing vegetation. Stage 3: Design Development We discuss ideas and produce draft visualisations, and plant lists using Adobe software. Once clients are happy with the concept we proceed to final elevation and planting plan. Stage 4: Planting Plan(s)/Elevations We produce finalised elevations and a planting plan and order the plants. Stage 5: Site Prep Ground is prepared and soil amended as required. Stage 6: Planting Once the plants have arrived and ground prep completed we plant the plants and apply a suitable mulch. |
