What we do...
|
Beautiful Practical Gardens Gardens Of Eden is a professional garden design, Permaculture and soft landscaping business specialising in; Edible Landscaping and Ecological Design. We apply Permaculture principles, in addition to conventional garden design theory in all our garden and planting designs. Using this combination of methods results in the creation of ornamental multidimensional ecosystems. Gardens that benefit wildlife, store carbon and some gardens that produce food sustainably. |
The Garden of Eden; as a mythical concept was a way of life pre-agriculture, when people found abundance in nature, landscapes and gardens.
The garden provided sustainable natural capital for humans and other wildlife who were all part of a wider ecosystem. Food came from perennial crops, whose habit meant that harvests could be reaped without tilling and sowing and wildlife and ecosystems were protected. Gardens Of Eden re-imagines the concept of Eden in our green spaces and gardens, with food forests and ecological design. As a professional garden design, Permaculture and soft landscaping business, Gardens Of Eden creates beautiful gardens with additional practical functions. All our gardens will benefit wildlife and some will also produce sustainably produced, organic food. Re-imaging the concept of Eden and creating gardens to provide the same abundance for people and wildlife. |
Gardens Of Eden was founded by Zac Harris. Zac wanted to start a planting design and soft landscaping business that created bold exciting gardens that could also produce food sustainably and benefit wildlife. This was driven by Zac's passion for horticulture, sustainability and food security and after graduating with a BSc in Horticulture (Garden and Landscape Design) from the Eden Project, Zac founded Gardens Of Eden. Also holding a Permaculture Design Certificate, Zac was inspired by the concept of Edible Forest Gardening and combined this with conventional ornamental garden design theory to form a basis for Edible Landscaping. Ornamental gardens with an edible twist! Zac's gardens have achieved 2nd place in 'Fowey in Bloom.' He has also delivered presentations on Edible Landscaping at the Cornwall Garden Society 'Spring Flower Show' with TEVI and at the Eden Project. Zac is currently studying an MSc in Land and Ecological Restoration with Eden Learning. |

Happy People |
"We have known Zac for over a year during which time he has been employed by us as a gardener and "Zac has a wonderful combination of enthusiasm, plant knowledge, skill and care which he has used to great effect on our garden in Fowey. He has recently planned and planted a small area of woodland with native species, and is working to improve the planting elsewhere to encourage more wildlife into the garden. He works very hard and is as excited as we are by the improvements that he has made." |
"We have known Zac for 2 years. He is our gardener & garden designer at our property in Fowey. "Zac Harris has tended and nurtured our rather wild cottage garden in Lostwithiel for about a year with knowledge and imagination and brought it under control. He has an eye for the architecture of plants and is scrupulously tidy. He has a real love of plants and gardens and is a pleasure to work with. I cannot recommend him too highly. |
